What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. "Similar technologies" includes localStorage and SDK identifiers used by third-party services like advertising networks. Some are essential for the site to work; others are optional.
Categories we use
1. Strictly necessary
Required for the site to function. Without these, you can't log in, comment, or use protected features.
- Supabase auth session — keeps you logged in. Stored in your browser's local storage. No tracking.
2. Preferences
Remember your choices on the site.
- Theme / UI preferences — stored in local storage only when you change them.
3. Analytics
We use Google Search Console, which works server-side from aggregated search data. It does not set cookies on your browser.
4. Advertising
We display ads through Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies and similar identifiers to deliver, measure and (with consent) personalise ads. Typical cookies include __gads, __gpi, IDE, NID and others set on Google domains.
For visitors in the EU/EEA and UK, Google's own EU user consent message asks for permission before any personalised processing. If you decline, AdSense serves non-personalised ads, which still rely on a minimal set of cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting.
Learn more and adjust your ad personalisation settings at adssettings.google.com and Google's advertising policies.
How to control cookies
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies in settings. This may break parts of the site (you may need to log in again).
- Google ad preferences — manage personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
- EU industry tool — opt out of many ad networks at youronlinechoices.eu.
